Arabella Faratro, Director of Leaping Toads, has joined the Decision Maker Panel (DMP) of the Bank of England (BoE).

As part of the panel, she will participate in regular surveys, sharing insights on business expectations and providing information related to Leaping Toads on topics such as employment levels, capital investment and sales revenues.

The DMP was established in August 2016 by the Bank of England in collaboration with academics from Stanford University and the University of Nottingham. Its aim is to collect detailed monthly information on business expectations from around 2,500 participants. The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee uses the results to monitor developments in the UK economy, inform its monetary policy decisions, and track business sentiment.

The panel also makes a significant contribution to policymaking in the UK, with its data used to brief ministers from departments including HM Treasury and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. It is comprised of executives from small, medium and large UK companies across a wide range of industries and is designed to be representative of the broader population of UK businesses.

“It’s a real privilege to have been invited to become a member of the Bank of England’s Decision Maker Panel, particularly at a time when many British businesses are facing economic uncertainty,” Arabella said. “Senior policymakers across the UK will be required to make difficult decisions to help steer the economy through rising inflation, increasing energy costs and ongoing labour pressures.

“The data I can provide, alongside other DMP members, will help build a clearer picture of the outlook facing UK businesses and support the Monetary Policy Committee in making these important decisions as the country works towards long-term economic recovery and growth.”
